Day 4

"God Works It All Out"

Exodus 2:16-22

A recent television show called
“Manifest” uses the theme of Romans 8:28
for its premise. It's kind of a
sci-fi show and we don't know where
it is headed yet, but it clearly uses
the idea that even though many things
seem unrelated, there is a bigger picture
in play that weaves all those things
together to accomplish something
even better than imagined.

The passengers of Flight 828 disappeared
for over five years and returned without
aging or even knowing that they had been gone!
They get strange cryptic callings
that lead them to rescuing kidnap victims,
saving lives, stopping accidents,
and helping people in distress.
We are not shown early in the show,
if it is God who is behind it all,
but we are sure it was God
working things out with Moses.

Leaving Egypt all those years ago,
led Moses to a wife and family,
a father-in-law who would later
give him some great leadership advice,
and 40 more years of learning
about God and how He works.
It also gave time for the Israelites
to be ready to accept Moses’ leadership.

Trusting God means not only following His
timing but taking the time to grow
in grace in order to do the job right
when it is time. Be patient,
God's timing is also about growth!

Prayer: Dear father, help us to understand that
growth takes time. Give us the wisdom
to patiently wait and cooperate
with You as You continue to shape
our lives and our futures.

P.S. Here is the chorus to a
children’s song we used to sing:

He's still workin’ on me -
to make me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars,
The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be -
He's still workin’ on me. - Joel Hemphill
